Foreign Policy, its Internal and External Determinants
in the context of US – IRAN War.
Foreign Policy of a state is concerned with the behavior
and interaction of a state towards other states of world. It refers to the ways
in which the governments of sovereign states interact with each other within
the prevailing global system in order to achieve vital strategic, economic
goals without damaging others interest. Through foreign policy state Endeavour’s
to persuade others in accordance with one’s own ends. It is primarily in
proportion to its national power that its persuasive power is effective in this
regard. However, even a powerful state cannot afford to enjoy full authority in
present interconnected global scenario. It has to take into account, not only
its own objectives and interests, aspirations and problems, but also those of
other states. State while formulating and implementing its foreign policy
cannot and does not afford to ignore the rules of International law, interests
of other states rules of regional and International Organization and canons of
international Law. The foreign policy is the face of a state. Foreign Policy is
multifaceted and dynamic political course that a nation follows in International
Global system. In present era the term Foreign Policy has become so wide that
it covers almost all sorts of relations of one government with rest of world. A
state without a foreign policy is like a ship without captain. The foreign
Policy is combination of all internal and external determinants. Foreign Policy
is part of national policy consists of multiple goals and interests that are to
be secured economically, politically, socially and
militarily. Foreign policies are designed to help protect a country’s national
interests, national security, ideological goals, and economic prosperity. This
can occur as a result of peaceful cooperation with other nations, or through
exploitation and coercion like US Iran ongoing War.
Objectives of Foreign Policy.
The objectives of Foreign Policy are
divided in three categories namely Core values interests or Short Range Policy,
Middle range and Universal long-range objectives. Foreign Policy objectives are
aimed at attaining economic prosperity, Political independence, and territorial
integrity, preservation of Ideological frontiers and expanding influence or
prestige in international global system. The main objectives, which the foreign
policy of a country seeks to achieve, are as follows.
